As a parent or carer, you want your child to make the best start in their career. There are many options available to young people and they will be given lots of advice and guidance at school, but it’s vital to think about what interests they have and what skills, both professional and personal they could build on.
As such, we recently set up our QTT (Qube Traineeship/Apprenticeship Team) Facebook group, which has quickly become a hub for students, parents and careers to come together to get further advice and guidance, as well as share their own stories and experiences.
Ally Shaw, who is a parent to one of our students, shared her experience with the Qube team:
“I can’t praise QTT enough. My daughter hasn’t had the best schooling due to bullies, social acceptance problems etc leaving me with a daughter with low self-esteem and confidence and so, therefore, I was highly concerned she would struggle with her GCSE’s and get not so great grades resulting in a poor career future for her. After numerous talks with ‘Dawn Greenwood’ and meetings between her and Alix I was reassured that I had made the right choice for her by introducing her to this option with QTT to secure her future. Alix will be starting her placement real soon, she has regular contact with Dawn and has been assured that should this position that she has been accepted for, is not to her satisfaction, then she has the option to leave and try other placements until she is happy with her choice. Totally put my mind at rest that my daughter will be cared for and nurtured into a great career with job satisfaction. Highly recommend this to every person with a child of school leaving age. I’ve 4 other children with whom I shall be sending to Dawn to sort their future successes out with.”
