Emma began her Food Processing and Cooking qualification in July 2004, while working at the Slug and Lettuce. As a result, she has since been promoted to Head Chef, and has now progressed onto an advanced qualification in Hospitality Supervision.
"After completing my qualification I have been promoted to Head Chef and in the future it will allow me to progress within the catering industry. I am more conscious of the way I work. I have looked at myself, evaluated my workload and learnt to prioritise. Reading case studies and researching information to complete targets has helped me develop my own management style"
Emma has gained a great deal of confidence and knowledge, and her completion of Intermediate Hygiene has had a good impact on the already high standards of hygiene within the kitchen. Since completing her qualification, the gross profit of our business has improved. Emma is more organised,

Susan worked as a catering supervisor/assistant at a canteen with the Greencore Pizza factory in Salford.
She was very keen to undertake the qualification, but had very low confidence.
Prior to starting this programme, Susan had no qualifications.
"I had to learn all about food hygiene, temperature records and how to cook a variety of different foods. A lot of questions were involved, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
As a result of the qualification I became a chef.
I am 42 and I think this has been a very big thing in my life, I should have done it years ago"
Susan was quite nervous at the onset, but after a couple of visits began to relax and enjoy the course.
As a result of completing her NVQ, Susan has written to our MD thanking him for the training opportunity. I have ordered her Optima logo’d chef’s jackets for work and she is coming with me to meet the staff of a new contract we recently won to assure them of the support given to our staff.
