Avery Youth Apprenticeship Scheme

The Healthcare provider Avery has launched an initiative to address youth unemployment and skills shortage in some of the areas it occupies. the initial pilot and includes homes located in Yorkshire, Chester and the Midlands. Asides delivering qualifications, Qube is also helping Avery to recruit and mentor the Apprentices.

 

The scheme managed by Training and Staff Development Manager Shelley Tyas will be delivered in partnership with Qube Learning’s Louise Thomalla.

 

The programme will last for approximately two years with each candidate entering the programme on a ‘multi-skilled’ apprenticeship programme and spending a period of time in each department where they will be mentored through a ‘buddy up’ system. The scheme falls under Avery’s Training and Development Programme. On a day-to-day basis it will be implemented under the careful governance of Home Managers and Department Managers. Wider support will come from a team of industry professionals who will offer regular assessments and mentoring, including Louise Thomalla (Regional Business Development Specialist at Qube Learning) and Avery’s Shelley Tyas who will provide regular reviews to ensure all parties are receiving the training and support required.
