Chiltern Youth League U12’s Division 4
Dunstable Colts 2-3 Dunstable Town Blues (1-1 Half-time)
Dunstable Colts were unlucky to lose a fiercely contested game, which was a marked improvement upon last Sunday’s heavy defeat in our opening game.
The team started much brighter, playing some very positive attacking football but spurned 3 or 4 glorious chances to take the lead, the best of which fell to the striker Cameron who miss-hit his shot. Shortly afterwards, against the run of the play The Blues took the lead, with central defender Codrut, who had plenty of time to clear the ball, hesitated, took an extra touch and was disposed in front of goal and the chance was clinically taken. Dunstable Colts reacted well to this setback and equalised shortly after, courtesy of a smart finish from Cameron. That was the way it stayed until half-time.
The second half didn’t start at all well for us, a further 2 defensive errors were punished allowing the opposition to race into a 2 goal lead, when the only real difference had been their better finishing. The challenge was on for Dunstable to get back into the game and the team continued to dominate in midfield areas but clear cut chances were hard to come by. Eventually, Dunstable Colts were awarded a penalty when Callum was pushed to the ground in the box, Harry fired home the penalty but with only a few minutes remaining there wasn’t time to find an equaliser.
Overall, supporters were very impressed and pleased with the improvement in performance, Colin the manager, awarded Luke the man-of-the match award, for a very determined display in midfield.
