Case Study: Billy Askell
Billy Askell from Essex has been recognised as Young Apprentice of the Year by leading training provider Qube Learning. Billy undertook a Level 2 Health and Social Care Apprenticeship at The New Deanery and his achievements were applauded at Qube’s Trainee and Apprentice award ceremony, held at the iconic Montcalm Hotel in Central London on the 17th May.
The event was hosted by multiple gold medallist and World Record holder Colin Jackson CBE, commenting on the award, Colin said:
“It was such an honour to give Billy his award. He has worked fantastically hard to achieve success and really deserves this recognition. With so many inspiring stories, I really do champion Traineeships and Apprenticeships and hope it motivates people to consider the different education routes available. They can help create careers that individuals can be passionate and motivated about. Dreams can be achieved”
Billy started his Apprenticeship in February 2017 and immediately impressed both his employers and the Qube team. Despite working very long hours and learning to drive, Billy strived for success requesting additional units and completing his qualification early. Since completing his Apprenticeship in October 2017, Billy has already secured a promotion and is a highly valuable member of the team.
Speaking about the award win, Billy said: “I’m really proud to have received this award. Health and Social Care was an area that I never thought I’d be part of, but the support that I’ve had has shown me that I can do anything. The feeling you get knowing you have helped someone to improve their day makes the job all worthwhile. Qube have helped me to increase my knowledge and understanding of many different aspects of care, like dementia, medical illnesses and many more. I now feel secure in the path I’m taking and know that this is what I want to do in the future, and I’m very excited about what lies ahead!”
Commenting on the awards, Qube Learning CEO Joe Crossley said: “These awards show the exceptional individuals we come across each day who, like Billy, show great determination to achieve their goals. It’s great to see how the right learning opportunities can help people realise their potential and succeed in the future.”
