5 Minute Phone Call - Joe Crossley
Our new feature, the 5 Minute Phone Call asks Qube employees a series of questions to get to know them a bit better. To get things started, we asked Qube CEO, Joe Crossley to tell us a few things about himself.
Name: Joe Crossley
Department: Executive
How long have you been at Qube?
I started at Qube in September 2014, so just over 4 years.
Where did you work before Qube?
Before Qube, I worked for a smaller provider in the East of England as Business Development and Contracts Director.
How did you get to where you are in your career?
Hard work! I also have a bit of a knack for building really strong teams with a very good range of skills. I am very lucky that I have worked with a very good core team at Qube who really understand the long term vision of the business.
What was the most interesting job you had before this one?
I have had many interesting jobs before this one! I worked on a worm farm, cleaned lorries and also was a costume character in a zoo! I have done a bit of voluntary work and being part of the rehabilitation board at Norwich prison was probably the most interesting thing that I have done.
If you weren’t doing what you would do now as a job – what would you do?
I really don’t know! I love work based learning, so if I didn’t do this job it would be something away from the sector. My wife really wants to open a coffee shop so I’d probably help her do that.
How do you spend your time outside of Qube?
I have a 4 year old and 6 year old – so my spare time is spent with them. I am becoming a master of Mario Kart 8 and am currently working very hard at building the Death Star out of Lego.
Tell us one thing we didn’t know about you?
During a boring summer, when I was about 15, I taught myself how to play the Didgeridoo. I still have it in the garage and get it out occasionally to confuse the dog!
