5 Minute Phone Call - Kate Brooks

The 5 Minute Phone Call asks Qube employees a series of questions to get to know them a bit better. This month we asked Kate Brooks to tell us a few things about herself.

Where did you work before Qube?
First 4 Skills, as an assessor for Apprenticeships and a Tutor for Traineeships
How did you get to where you are in your career?
I started on a Youth Training Scheme in 1983 with Beatties, which later became House of Fraser and progressed through the company and became an in store trainer supporting with opening new stores.
What was the most interesting job you had before this one?
As a Manager with Beatties and HOF, visiting companies and seeing how products are manufactured along with flying out to Belfast to train all colleagues for a new store opening.
If you weren’t doing what you would do now as a job – what would you do?
I would love to be a Traffic Officer for the Police.
How do you spend your time outside of Qube?
Walking my 2 greyhounds or they walk me! Looking after my family and helping where needed particularly for my mother in law who has vascular dementia. I enjoy my garden and find it very therapeutic when feeling stressed or overwhelmed. I also like to relax watching some of my favourite programmes on TV and going to the cinema. Oh and not to forget eating - I love my food! Chinese is my fave.
Tell us one thing we didn’t know about you?
My first baby was born weighing 11lb and 11oz -ouch!
