National Carers Week helps champion the Unsung Caring Heroes

Suzanne Hay from Bourne started an Apprenticeship at Abbey Court care home, which is managed by Priory Adult Care, in April 2019. The Apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with leading training provider Qube Learning.

Suzanne’s desire to work in care came after her mum was taken into a home to be treated for Parkinson’s and Dementia, where she was overwhelmed by the kindness her mum received during the last stages of her life. Before embarking on a career in care, Suzanne worked as a receptionist and then cared for her mum at home. Her natural ability to look after someone came as second nature and she is now enjoying making life comfortable for many patients at Abbey Court.
