Student Case Study: Tobias Carr – Millets (JD Group)

We recently caught up with Retail Apprentice and JD Group Sales Assistant, Tobias Carr, to gather their feedback on how they discovered their Apprenticeship programme opportunity and how it’s going to date.
Tobias told Qube “After seeing the advert for Apprenticeship opportunities in our Staff Newsletter, myself and a few Colleagues at the Millets store in Mansfield encouraged one another to apply for the programme. Following my successful application, I started my Apprenticeship earlier this year; It’s proved to be relevant to my retail role and a convenient way of upskilling. As a Sales Assistant in a busy store I feel there’s always ways I can improve and learn more, and with the well planned and executed programme of learning, I feel the Apprenticeship will provide me with the skills I need to gain more confidence while challenging myself to learn new skills.
My plans for the future are to be the best Sales Assistant I can be, supporting and assisting customers; I’m also learning British Sign Language (BSL) and aim to always be an advocate for disabled staff. For anybody else who may be reading this and is considering starting an Apprenticeship I’d say to them to go for it, don’t be afraid to try new things!”
