Student Case Study: Daniel Ekwala – JD Group

We recently caught up with Apprentice, Daniel Ekwala, to gather his feedback on how he discovered his Apprenticeship programme opportunity and how it’s going to date.

Daniel told Qube: ‘I found out about JD’s ‘Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2’ Apprenticeship on the JD website, and decided to apply for it because I saw it as a ladder to my career and job progression within the JD establishment. In the beginning, I wasn’t sure if I could combine this programme with my job and family life, but after a few meetings with Mr Matthew, a brilliant, knowledgeable, calm-natured person, I decided to continue. I have never regretted this decision.’

‘The Apprenticeship programme has impacted my knowledge and understanding on how and why businesses operate the way they do and the connection between one warehouse supply chain to another, from the procurement stage, right down to the end consumer. Taking the Apprenticeship programme has given me the opportunity to acquire the ideas on how and why companies try to act responsibly to protect their integrity both internally and externally, what companies need to do in order to reduce their carbon footprint in the global world, how to be safe at work and what to do when there is an incident in the workplace, just to name a few. 

‘I am confident to say that the knowledge, skills and understanding I am gaining from this programme is equipping me for growth within the business and preparing me for other opportunities. My views, how I relate with other people and the way I do things now has transformed immensely all thanks to this programme and my wonderful Tutors. Upon completion of the Level 2 programme, I intend to continue with the Level 3 programme, which I believe is going to fortify me for bigger roles.’
