Student Case Study: Denise Kelly – JD Group

We recently caught up with Business Administration Level 3 Apprentice and JD Group Admin, Denise Kelly, to gather her feedback on how she discovered her Apprenticeship programme opportunity and how it’s going to date.
Denise told Qube: ‘I am quite new to the JD team, having only been in the business for just over 12 months. Due to my previous employer relocating, I was made redundant. It was a quite a big change in both my personal and work life, and I decided that the time was right for a career change into administration.’
‘My manager spoke to me within my appraisal meeting, informing me of the opportunity to complete an Apprenticeship as part of my development. As I was now in a completely different role, I thought that this opportunity would allow me to broaden and develop my existing skills.’
‘I would encourage anyone who wishes to complete an Apprenticeship to take the opportunity (as you are never too old) to learn new things. You are supported throughout your journey and it’s the perfect opportunity to broaden your skills and knowledge.’
‘The Apprenticeship has allowed me to use my existing skills, alongside looking at what new skills I can learn in my current role.‘
‘After the Apprenticeship, I am hoping that I can become involved in process improvements within my department, as going forward there are a lot of changes expected in the next 12 months, so I am hoping that I can utilise what I have learned in my Apprenticeship and can put this into practice.’
