Student Case Study: Thomas Shuker – JD Group

We recently caught up with Apprentice, Thomas Shuker, to gather his feedback on how he discovered his Apprenticeship programme opportunity and how it’s going to date.

Thomas told Qube: ‘I found out about the Apprenticeship programme when someone from the team visited customer care to tell us about all the courses that were on offer.

‘I like the fact that I get to take charge of my learning. I can work in a way that suits me in order to complete my assignments. The course also allows a lot of time to set my own activities, so I can develop the skills that would benefit me most.’

‘The Apprenticeship has made me more career focused, as I have been taking any opportunities that come along on because I need to get involved with multiple activities for my off-the-job training log. I have also learned how to use various personal development tools and started asking my colleagues for honest feedback.

‘To anyone considering an Apprenticeship, I would say do it. It’s a great opportunity to grow your skills while you’re still earning. You also get to do things that you wouldn’t normally do.’
