Student Case Study: Lorraine Portnow – Greater Anglia

We recently caught up with Customer Service Apprentice Lorraine Portnow to gather her feedback on how she discovered her Apprenticeship programme opportunity and how it’s going to date.
Lorraine told Qube: ‘Since enrolling on to the Apprenticeship Programme in January 2021 I have received fantastic support from my Manager and the Learning and Development Team here at Greater Anglia. Although I initially found the balance between work, life and studying a little difficult to juggle, with their support, and that of Qube Learning, I have been able to learn during my normal working week, access different areas of the business that I wouldn’t have before, and completed all work set on time.
‘Since enrolling on to the Apprenticeship I have enhanced my computer skills and revisited maths as a subject, much of which I had forgotten since school, these have really boosted my confidence. In addition to this I have pulled together a range of business-related materials along the way, all of which I’m extremely proud of and I received an award at work, the ‘Customer Experience Award’, which was a great achievement for me!
‘The benefits of an Apprenticeship to me have been visibly clear, a prime example being the way it has assisted me in recently securing a promotion to a management role of which I start soon!’
‘I have learned so much already and hope this continues as I finalise my Apprenticeship in the coming months. I am going into my new managerial role with higher self-confidence, not only workwise but also on a personal level, giving the confidence the get back in to my previous hobby of marathon running!
‘To anybody looking to enrol on to an Apprenticeship, no matter what age, I would encourage them to do so, staying focused on their desired outcome and to always communicate throughout the programme as everyone, whether that be your Manager, Tutor or family, is there to support you.’
