new school food standards from September 2006

From September 2006, the government has set new nutritional standards for school lunches and other school food. High-quality meat, poultry or oily fish must be regularly available on school menus. Pupils will be served at least two portions of fruit and vegetables with every meal. Deep-fried food will be limited to no more than two portions per week. Fizzy drinks, crisps, chocolate and other confectioneries will all be removed from school meals and vending machines. If the school's budget share includes an amount for lunches and refreshments, it is the governors' responsibility to provide free and paid-for meals facilities, and to meet the nutritional standards.

Qube can offer the following qualifications as an integral part of government-funded NVQs under the Train to Gain Scheme, or as stand-alone qualifications funded by the employer
