The DIUS (Department for Innovation, Universities & Skills) was created by the Government in 2007, to make Britain one of the best places in the world for science, research and innovation. Part of this is a responsibility for all post-19 learning, from basic literacy and numeracy skills to much more advanced qualifications in a variety fields
To coincide with the latest package of government measures to help businesses and individuals facing difficulties in the current downturn, DIUS has published a document ‘FE works: supporting individuals, employers and communities.’ The good practice guide illustrates with case-studies how the whole of the FE system is making a contribution in the efforts to give businesses and individuals a fresh start or the opportunity to remain competitive. The document is scrupulously fair in using examples of best practice from both colleges and independent providers (when previous documents from the government and its agencies have not always been) and ALP thanks those members who responded to DIUS’s invitation to submit case-studies for inclusion.
Qube's contribution can be found on page 10 of the publication, which can be downloaded here
