After leaving the academic world in 1980, where he was a senior lecturer in Computer Science, Gavin founded Training International which became the UK’s largest PC training company - floating on the London Stock Exchange in 1987.
Since then Gavin has held a series of executive roles at both public and private technology companies on both sides of the Atlantic including Ashton-Tate (dBase), Ansa (Paradox), P&P Micro Computers Plc, Norton (Norton Utilities), Borland (Turbo Basic, Quattro Pro) Gupta (SQL Base & SQL Windows) and Winmail, Europe’s leading messaging company of which he was co-founder. More recently he has funded fast growth technology companies and taken executive roles to aid those companies in the early stages of development prior to public offering.
